The terms of our Hip, Eye and Hearing Guarantee are outlined as follows: To qualify for a Hip claim, the dog must have their hips X-rayed by 28 months of age to be eligible for this Guarantee. All X-rays must be submitted to the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) for assessment by Veterinary Radiologists. Proof of severe genetic hip dysplasia from the OFA must be provided to Zarate Labradors. THIS HIP GUARANTEE ONLY COVERS SEVERE HIP DYSPLASIA THAT IMPAIRS THE DOG'S ABILITY TO ENGAGE IN NORMAL ACTIVITIES. The buyer is responsible for ensuring that the dog is not overfed, as this can also contribute to hip dysplasia. Once the following conditions are fulfilled, this GUARANTEE will be in effect and honored by Zarate Labradors. A copy of the OFA findings MUST be submitted to us for our records. The OFA will be the sole authority regarding hip dysplasia, will also determine any eye defects, based on findings regarding RD/OSD and/or PRA results. The terms of our hearing guarantee stipulate that the dog must undergo a BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) test to check for hearing levels by the time they reach 6 months of age, proof of any diagnosed hearing loss or deafness must be submitted to us. The buyer also agrees not to jog with the puppy on hard surfaces or allow the puppy to jump from heights (such as a car or truck) before reaching 18 months of age. Since DJD Grade 1-type elbow dysplasia or unilateral elbow dysplasia can result from poor nutrition, improper exercise, injury from jumping, or rough play, no warranty shall apply in such cases. This guarantee DOES NOT cover anything else.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON EARLY SPAYING/NEUTERING: Your veterinarian may recommend spaying or neutering your puppy at a young age, possibly as early as four months. We have provided you with resources that highlight the potential adverse effects of early spaying/neutering on your puppy's long-term health. While we advocate for spaying/neutering to help control pet overpopulation, we strongly advise against the practice of EARLY spaying/neutering. The final decision rests with you, but we wish to express our concerns regarding this approach.
